7th JANUARY 08
The mares are wintering well and we have just started feeding hay to them. The mares that are in foal are showing obvious signs now and getting bigger and bigger. The first foal is due mid March and that is P.JAZZ in foal to W GRENADIER. L.PLUME and P.PENLLYWD are in foal to P.PEREGRINE. P.COLLETTE and L.COLUMBINE are in foal to DUNSFOLD SPRINGCORN and Rachel has B.MULBERRY in foal to P.JIVE. It is an exciting time of the year waiting to see what sex and what color the new generation will be. Last year there was 4 roans and 1 grey so we are hoping for more color this time.
We have leased P.TAPDANCE to a local family who are very involved in pony racing and they are hoping to get her measured 13.2. so that will create a new interest for the daughter of our sadly missed T/B mare MINNIE
12th JANUARY 08.
Pat has finally managed to wean P.CONSORT and I'm sure L.COLUMBINE will be glad to be shot of him as she is heavy in foal and he is nearly as big as her. P.CONSORT is know sharing a cell with P.PUCCINI a son of P.TAPDANCE by WESTACRE COMIC OPERA. I'm sure they will spend many enjoyable hours beating the crap out of each other. P.PUCCINI is a 12.2 version of Sony Liston. Once L.REMBRANDT has gone to his new owners in Wales we will be able to separate them if they don't kill each other in the mean time.
13th JANUARY 08
Paddy had another lady come to visit him today. Her name is Lucy and it should be an interesting mating as she is a full sister to little Hope. There might be some more Twinkle Mouse's.
14th JANUARY 08
We had a visit from Peter de Rade who was on his way back from Holland. Peter produces for Rob Jones who has brought L.REMBRANDT and he was checking to see that Rembrandt was in show condition. He was very happy with what he saw and was more than happy to take Rembrandt on as a show colt. We have separated Puccini and Consort today and hopefully they can now both get on with establishing their own personalities. They are both show quality colts. Georgie Worsley rang to say that P.TAPDANCE had settled in really well and was a lovely pony. We have been on her and she is a poppet was her comment.
19th JANUARY 08
The hair is starting to fall out of the ponies that are in stables which is almost a month ahead of the norm so goodness knows what is going on with the climate. At least they will be up to speed for the early shows
20th JANUARY 08
Peanut has just whelped 2 dogs and 1 bitch puppies by Paddy. They are strong black and tan and are lovely. Mother and children are all well.
26th JANUARY 08.
A few days of dry weather have proved a god-send as the yards were dry enough to turn the youngsters out for a few hours and they exploded and galloped and bucked for fun. It was a pleasure to see them really enjoying their freedom if only for a few hours. If only they would move as well in the show ring as they do in the paddock when they are fresh.
1st FEBRUARY 08
Caroline rang to say her bitch had whelped 5 B&T puppies by Paddy 2 dogs and 3 bitches. He had another bitch come to visit him today so he is a very busy boy and has a constant smile on his face.
A friend sent me the link below and its worth watching again and again and again and again and again.
15th FEB 08
All the yearlings are now rugged and on course for the early spring shows especially P.MAGNOLIA and P.ROSEMARI. Still waiting for L.REMBRANDT to be picked up by the transporters to go to Wales but hopefully that will happen this week. Georgie Worsley rang to say that P.TAPDANCE has taken to her new role like a duck to water and they hope to run her late in March
16th FEB 08
The welsh lorry arrived last night and picked up Rembrandt so he is on his way to Wales. We would like to wish his new owner Mr Rob Jones the very best of luck with him.
20th FEB 08
Rembrandt has arrived safely in Wales so is on course to go to the Lampeter Stallion Show for his new owners. Paddy had another girl to visit as our local hay man Tim decided he was the perfect partner for their jack bitch Minnie. Lets hope in a couple of months they hear the pitter patter of tiny feet. Peanuts puppies are doing really well and are starting to run about. Our black and tan terriers have come a long way and the introduction of Paddy has proved to be a huge success.
21st FEB 08
Paddy had another lady visitor today. Mandy B Small had her terrier bitch covered by Paddy and she is part Chihuahua so it should be an interesting cross.
24th FEB 08
Georgie took Tapdance to Lingfield to a racing pony teaching day and rang me very excited about her." She is a real sweetie" she said and nothing is a problem to her. She is also jumping clear around a small show jumping course and the future looks exciting.
Latest pictures of the ponies being prepared for showing this year at the early shows. Its an all family affair with Father,Daughter and half sister.
29th FEB 08
Found this photo of Hope as a 12 week old pup and only then realized how tiny she was. The hands are Rachel's. She is still my best friend
1st MARCH 08
Time to resurrect a few golden oldies while not much else is happening. This one always makes me smile.
This will really make you smile
9th MARCH 08
Great news at Pennway as our home breed stallion P.PEREGRINE had his first winner when P.ROSEMARI won the Sec B yearling class at the SEWPCA spring show at Sands Farm. Rosi is out of C.MARYROSE and is a lovely friendly filly and behaved herself really well on her first venture away from her mates. More good news as P.TAPDANCE had her first outing as a racing pony at Detling Point to Point yesterday.Goergie rang to ask if she could give her a run to see how she would behave at the races. She had to run in a mixed 14.2--13.2 race against experienced pony's. She jumped of mid field and moved up into 4th place just before the turn for home at which stage Goergie expected her to fall in a heap as she is only half ready and the race was over 1 mile. Tapdance put her head down and battled to the line to finish 3rd. She was beaten by 2 14.2's with all the 13.2's a long way behind. She will have her next run in 3 weeks against 13.2's
12th MARCH 08
Georgie rang to say that Tap Dance had come thru her race really well and has eaten up everything. Both yearlings have come on since their outing at the show last weekend and have bounced back really well.
20th MARCH 08
Shaun took P.PUCCINI home last Sunday were he will continue to prepare him for partbred classes later in the year. That left room for P.JAZZ to come indoors to wait for her 2008 foal to arrive. She is due about the 27th and normally foals on time. She is infoal to W.GRENEDAIR. All the yearlings are coming on a treat and are ready to show. We have entered P.MAGNOLIA and P.CONSORT at Eastern Welsh on Sunday and both will benefit from the outing. 2 of Peanuts pups have gone to their new homes which only leaves the bitch pup who should go this weekend.
24th MARCH 08
After much sole searching we decided to go to the Eastern Welsh Spring Show yesterday. Because of the weather we decided to take 2 experienced ponies,so we loaded P.PEREGRINE and P.ROSEMARI on the truck and set off in what turned out to be a difficult journey. On the M11 the conditions were really bad with snow drifting and the motorway closed down to 1 lane and speed restrictions at 30 mph. Both ponies won their classes so it was worth the journey. P.ROSEMARI won the Sec B yearling class and P.PEREGRINE won the Sec B stallion class. Peanuts last pup has gone to her new owner which pleased Peanut as she had had enough of her very playful pup
4th APRIL 08
Our first foal for 2008 arrived last night. P.JAZZ has produced a chestnut? filly by W.GRENADIER. Hopefully it will stay chestnut or even go liver so watch this space. P.TAPDANCE is to run at Godstone P to P this coming sunday. Georgie says she is very fit and has improved since her 3rd placing at her 1st start.
6th APRIL 08
Braved the snow and blizzards and headed for the Towerlands Welsh Show. Took P.CONSORT a yearking colt by Dunsfold Springcorn out of Laithehill Columbine and he did us proud and won the yearling class against strong opposition. He is destined to be a top class pony. Once again the weather caused the cancelation of the local P to P so P.TAPDANCE stayed in her box. Hopefully she will run at Ascot next saturday
12th APRIL 08
Great thrill today as P.TAPDANCE powered home along the rail to win the 13.2 novice 6 ful at Ascot. Brilliantly ridden by Tabatha Worsley she came with a well timed run to win going away by 2 lengths. It was a real thrill to lead the winner in on the hallowed turf of Royal Ascot
26th APRIL 08
Very busy time at Pennway so I thought I had better bring you up to date. 2 more litters by Paddy born last week and he has had 3 more bitches come to visit him. Both Mandy B/S and Tim Kemp are pleased with their B & T puppies. We have brought both L.PLUME and P.PENLLYWD into foaling boxes and they are now both overdue to P.PEREGRINE. Rachel mare B.MULBERRY produced a dark (hopefully liver) chestnut filly by P.JIVE and she was really excited as it is the first foal that Rachel has breed herself.(photo soon). P.TAPDANCE ran yesterday at Penshust in her first open 138 race and after being outpaced early can home really well to finish a head away 2nd. It was a really good run and once again well ridden by Tabetha Worsley. We will now go to the Novice final at Pepperharrow with a big chance of winning. Good news from Wales as L.REMBRANDT was 4th at Lampeter Stallion Show in a strong class of 3 yr olds.
27th APRIL 08

2nd MAY 08
Plume is now 2 weeks overdue now and Penny was due yesterday. Collette is due next monday so we should have an influx of foals very soon. Jazz is now out in the field shelter paddock with her foal and they are both doing well. We brought Collette inside tonight as she is bagging up really fast and looks like she might foal before the other 2.
5th MAY 08
We took P.PEREGRINE to Home Counties Spring Show today and he won the Sec B Stallion class. Rachel
showed him and he behaved really well which pleased her as her knee is still very painfull. Still no more foals but Penny and Collette are very close and Plume is now 3 weeks over. Columbine is bagging up as well although officially she still has a couple of weeks to go.
9th MAY 08
P.PENLLYWD has produced a big sure to go grey filly by P.PEREGRINE. Looks a really good mover with plenty of bone. P.TAPDANCE is entered to run at Pepper Harrow tomorrow.
10th MAY 08
Two foals born last night. P.COLLETTE had a large cream colt by D.SPRINGCORN. He is a very scopy foal and does appear to be able to move. L.PLUME has a very pretty grey colt by P.PEREGRINE with a very neat head but quite small and a typical first foal. P.TAPDANCE went to Peper Harow to run in the Pony Racing Novice final for 2008. Ridden to perfection by Tabitha Worsley she made all the running and stayed on really well to win by 1/2 a length under a nice hold. Georgie Worsley was really excited as this was the final act of a plan hatched at the Rat Catchers Ball at Ardingly last year. Brilliant when everthing works out as planned. We would like to congratulate Georgie and Tabitha on the brilliant job they have done in preparing Tappy from a broodmare with a foal at foot this January to the top novice racing pony in May.Below are first pics of new foals
26th MAY 08
What a busy week we have had. Sam's mare finally foaled on Thursday evening to Ranger. She produced a lovely quality dark bay (sure to go grey) colt. I rang Sam to tell her that her mare was on the way and she was enjoying a glass of wine with some friends in Tunbridge Wells. She left a half finished glass and headed for Coppings but unfortunately he beat her by minutes but was still attached to mother when she arrived. She was so excited at the arrival of her first grand child and the camera was very busy for about an hour. On Sat we took P.CONSORT to Heathfield show and he won a very strong 1,2 and 3 year old class of Sec B youngstock. It is a big thing for a yearling to beat 2 and 3 year olds and we are over the moon with his progress. He was supposed to go to Surrey County today but it is blowing a gale and raining so we decided to leave him in the warmth of his stable. There will be plenty more shows for him. Ranger is also very busy right now with a steady stream of ladies coming to visit him. We covered F.SYLVIA with P.PEREGRINE and he also covered B.MULBERRY. P.TAPDANCE ran at New Market last night in her first try at the big time and she finished a half length second to last years open final winner. We are thrilled with her progress and hopefully she will continue to improve as she gains more experience
28th MAY 08
L.COLUMBINE produced a colt foal by D.SPRINGCORN this morning. Pictures and more detail later. P.TAPDANCE will go to Lingfield on Friday

Wow what a super star Tapdance is turning out to be. Under a patient tackful ride by Tabitha she played with her 10 rivals to win the open 138 race over 6 furlongs at Lingfield. She is improving with every race and will now have a few weeks in the paddock before we map out a program for the rest of the season
10th JUNE 08
Huge excitment at Pennway as P.CONSORT won again at the East Anglia Native Show when he beat a strong class of Sec B yearlings. That makes it 3 shows for 3 wins.

Things have been very quiet at Pennway and nothing happening on the show scene untill E & O later this month. We will now decide on her next run but our goal is the final at Aintree
15th AUG 08
Tapdance had to settle for 2nd place when she ran over 1 1/4 miles at Bath. The trip was a bit far for her but she finished really strongly and was in front a few strides past the post. Her next run will be the 138 final at Aintree

Found this early picture of Rachel on her first Welsh Pony GREENLEE ANGHARAD in a fancy dress competition in New Zealand about 1984. ANGHARAD was a big winner in NZ and would probably hold her own today.
16TH NOV 08
Took P.JASMINE (2nd Sec B Foal) and P.CHA CHA (4th Sec B 1,2 & 3 yr olds) to the SEWPCA Foal Show which was pleasing in a very strong class and she was the highest placed yearling.

We have had to change P.JASMINE'S name as it clashes with a registered prefex. She is now called P.JAZZMIN
