She is over 13hh and we are very pleased with her. Both 3 year old fillies look well, PENNWAY JAZZ is small but typie and PENNWAY TAPDANCE will hold her own in partbred classes. PENNWAY PEREGRINE has been broken in and will be out a few times in ridden M & M classes as well as covering mares.

He will have a few days to settle back in before we start to school him for his new career under saddle.

P.JAZZ won the 3 yr old section B class,P.ROWAN was second in the section B adult class,P.TAPDANCE was 3rd in the welsh partbred class and P.JAZZ was second in the potentially lead rein/first ridden class so in all a very good day.

The first will be LAITHEHILL CYGNET in foal to PENNWAY PEREGRINE. PENNWAY COLLETTE is in foal to WHARELY GRENEDIER and LAITHEHILL AMETHYST is due to FARCHYNYS RHODRIE. MINNIE is in foal to WHARELY GRENEDIER.
4th MAY 2005
Very sad day at Pennway as our little thorobred mare MINNIE died of a heart attach while foaling. On a brighter note we had a phone call from the owners of the Horse of The Year Show hack mare SARAN WILD ROSE announcing the arrival of a stunning filly foal by HEVER GOLF RANGER. We are over the moon ,she is "really lovely" was their quote. Our 3 Sec B mares CYGNET,COLLETTE and AMETHYST are very close to foaling and we are really looking forward to the arrival of their foals. PENNWAY TAP DANCE has gone to the Kelly's to be mated to WESTACRE COMIC OPERA. TAP DANCE is a daughter of MINNIE and she is now very special to us. HEVER GOLF RANGER has his first wife for 2005. She is a 14 hh white cob mare.
12th MAY 2005
All 3 Sec B mares foaled last night. L.CYGNET has a grey colt by P.PEREGRINE(P.QUAIL), L.AMETHYST has a bay roan colt by F.RHODRI(P.PENGWYN) and P.COLLETTE has a chestnut colt by W.GRENEDIER(P.DRUMMER BOY). Very much a colt year at PENNWAY but at least they are all healthy. We have mated P.JAZZ to P.PEREGRINE and P.TAP DANCE has visited WESTACRE COMIC OPERA.
13th MAY 2005
Meet the owners of SARAN WILD ROSE at Windsor horse show and they think that the H.G.RANGER foal is the best they have breed which is music to our ears. It looks like RANGER has a very good future.
27th MAY 2005
We have covered 2 more mares. LAITHEHILL PLUME has been mated to P.ROWAN and C.MARYROSE to P.PEREGRINE. Below are the first photo's of the 2005 foals.
29th MAY 2005
PENNWAY'S bad luck continues as we found the L.AMETHYST----F.RHODRI colt dead in the paddock this morning. Pat is devastated to have lost this lovely foal. We then took our 3yr old filly P.JAZZ to Surrey County Show and had our worst result for ages when we were placed 7th out of 14 in the Sec B youngstock. We hope our luck is about to improve.
5th JUNE 2005
We took BROOKHALL MULBERRY to the save the children show to give her an outing and we were pleased with her 3rd placing in a good class.
9th JUNE 2005
Went to the South of England Show today and a much better result for PENNWAY.
BROOKHALL MULBERRY was 3rd in a really strong class of yearlings and we were really pleased to be placed in this strong class. PENNWAY JAZZ was also placed 3rd in a huge class of 2 & 3 yr olds. We went home really happy and our show season seems to be back on track.
22nd JUNE 2005
Stallions have been really busy. PENNWAY PEREGRINE has covered P.JAZZ, C.MARYROSE,LAITHEHILL CYGNET and P.COLLETTE. H.G.RANGER has covered 6 mares including SARAN WILD ROSE who has a stunning filly foal at foot by RANGER. L.COLUMBINE has been covered by CWRTYCADNO CYMRO and L.AMETHYST has been covered by F.PENRI. LAITHEHILL PLUME has gone to P.ROWAN

29th JUNE 2005
Really good news today as we received a phone call from the WILLIAMS confirming that their WEMBLY SHOW HACK has scanned positive to H.G.RANGER
18th JULY 2005
Went to NPS Area 20 yesterday and showed BROOKHALL MULBERRY and she went best yearling which was a good result. Stallions are still really busy but we are getting close to closing them down for the season. Pat and Rachel left tonight for the Royal Welsh which is like a pilgrimage to Mecca for them and muggins me stays home to do the work. Who ever said that the males of this world have got control have it sadly wrong.
21st JULY 2005
I had some luck while PAT & RACHEL were skiving in Wales by selling a pony. Rachel Gillam has brought PENNWAY DRUMMER BOY the 2005 colt by WHARLEY GRENEDIER out of PENNWAY COLLETTE. He will stay with us until he is weaned and we are sure that he will show very successfully for Rachel as a yearling next year.
29th AUGUST 2005
Had some excitement today on the way back from Home Counties Summer Show when Hope decided to whelp in the lorry on the M25 motorway. All turned out ok and she is the proud mother of 2 dogs and 1 bitch pup. Rachel Gillam who was in the lorry with us immediately claimed the bitch pup which she has called Crystal.
SEPTEMBER 2005
Pat is off to FAYRE OAKS to help KATHLEEN JAMES with her foals at the sales. We are not buying this year but we are picking up a grey colt from ROBERT HENSBY by HEATON ROMEO. He is a full brother to LAITHEHILL ICARUS who we showed with great success a few years ago
OCTOBER 2005
We have weaned our 2 colt foals and they have been joined by our new LAITHEHILL colt. We have gelded P.ROWAN and we have a customer interested in buying him to be produced as a driving pony. P.MADONNA has gone to a new home and we wish her new owners the best of luck with her. They are going to mate her to their own stallion.
6TH NOVEMBER 2005
PEPSI our black and tan terrier bitch whelped last night a couple of days early and we think the fireworks must have set her off. There are 3 black and tan bitch pups,2 black and tan dogs and 1 tri dog which will make lovely Christmas presents. Ponies are moving to their winter quarters. We will have all the youngstock and the stallions inside and we will try and winter the mares out provided the weather doesn't get to bad. Hopefully most of the mares are in foal for 2006. P.PEREGRINE has covered P.JAZZ, LAITHEHILL CYGNET,P.COLLETTE and COTTRELL MARYROSE. P.ROWAN covered LAITHEHILL PLUME before he was gelded. LAITHEHILL COLUMBINE was covered by CWRTYCADNO CYMRO and LAITHEHILL AMETHYST went to FARCHYNYS PENRI. We will have 2 yearling colts next year P.QUAIL and LAITHEHILL REMBRANDT. 2 2yr old filly's BROOKHALL MULBERRY and P.PORTRAIT and a 3yr old filly P.ROSINA. We will also have a 2yr old gelding P.CORONARCH so we should have plenty to show in 2006
8th NOVEMBER 2005
Had a problem with LAITHEHILL REMBRANDT who decided he could jump over his stable door so we fitted a top grille which put paid to his new trick. I am very excited as PAT is allowing me to put her favorite B mare LAITHEHILL COLUMBINE to HEVER GOLF RANGER next year. I am sure this cross will prove very successful and I am looking forward to the result. RANGER has covered 7 mares this season including the lovely 14.2 pony mare ERIMUS SHOW GIRL. and the Wembly hack mare SARAN WILD ROSE.WHARLEY GRENEDIER covered 5 mares 4 sec B's SYMONDSBURY PIORETTA, ERIMUS SONATINA, ERIMUS BELLADONNA and RACHEL GILLAM'S mare SHANNAH plus a lovely thorobred mare.
26th NOVEMBER 2005
Pat and Rachel spent the afternoon putting covers on the mares that are going to winter out and also L.REMBRANDT and P.QUAIL our 2 colt foals. It has been very mild up till the last couple of days but has suddenly changed to real winter. We believe that keeping the mares covered helps them to hold their condition over the long winter months.
3rd DECEMBER 2005
We are devastated at PENNWAY with the death of P.ROSINA. She looked off color on Thursday and had not improved by Friday so we called in the vet. A very thorough examination showed nothing so they took a blood sample to test. This showed kidney failure so we loaded her on the lorry and took her to the vets surgery. We checked every possible check we could but they all came up negative except for the blood and a urine sample which both showed total renal failure. She died early Saturday morning and the senior vet said that we will probably never find the cause or reason. We have kepted a 24 hour vigual on the other 2 ponies in the same paddock but they seem fine so fingers crossed.
4th DECEMBER 2005
Delivered P.DRUMMER BOY to Racheal Gillam today and installed him in his new home. He got on really well with Racheals son Robert and they quickly bonded and I'm sure they will be fine. He is a very forward thinking colt and should show well in the spring as a yearling
6th DECEMBER 2005
Sarah and Andrew Hickman sent us this latest photo of their lovely Blarney------Pepsi bitches Bacon and Puzzle. These 2 lovely bitches are full sisters but different litters and were born a year apart.
8th DECEMBER 2005
PAT,ROY & RACHEL would like to wish all our friends and all those that read our diary pages..........................................................................................................................................................
9th DECEMBER 2005
Took 2 more fillies back to Marsh Green Stables today and will keep them in for the winter. P.JAZZ who is in foal to P.PEREGRINE and our only purebred filly by C.JITTERBUG after the death of P.ROSINA and P.TAPDANCE who is also by C.JITTERBUG and out of our little thorobred mare MINNIE who died earlier in the year.
Orders are starting to come in for the BLARNEY----PEPSI pups who are now 5 weeks old.
25th DECEMBER 2005
4 of PEPSI'S puppies have gone to there new homes so only 2 to go although Pat is talking about keeping 1 of the bitch pups so watch this space. We are having Xmas dinner with Rachel and Tony so a lazy day for Pat and I. Pat has worked non-stop all week as Terry had asked her to do a pastel of one of Ruth's mares who had passed away a few weeks ago. It was a mad rush to get it finished in time so it could be framed. It all worked out fine and it was ready Xmas eve so Terry could give it to her Xmas day. We are spending boxing day with Sarah and the grand children CJ and Megan.
28th DECEMBER 2005
All the owners of the new pups have been in touch and they are over the moon with them. The little dog in Cambridge has been called Rocky. Molly is living at Ide Hill and Jack and Maisey are living in Croydon.
30th DECEMBER 2005
Woke this morning to heavy snow but after a cross country drive we got Pat's car out and she managed to get to the ponies. They are predicting a thaw so hopefully we will be able to get home later. Below is a picture of our new stud dog PADDY. He will be available to selected bitches in 2006.
